This book is based on a real rescue dog, rescued by Pound Hounds ResQ in 2018 from a high-kill shelter in New York City, where he was hours aawy from euthaansia. His forever family eventually flew him to Maui, gave him lots of furry siblings, and let him live out his golden years as beach dog.
When Smiley was adopted by a new family, there were lots of things he didn’t know! As a rescue dog, he didn’t know how to ride ina car, walk on a leash, or play with other dogs! Follow smiley’s journey with his new family as he learns valuable lessons about being the bestest boy.
The first Smiley soft-cover book is 44 pages long. This was the first published book about Smiley the Rescue Dog and turned into PART 1 of the extended book.
The second Smiley soft-cover book is 55 pages long. This is an PART 2 of the extended book!
The EXTENDED version combines the original book and PART 2 and is available in soft and hard cover. This book is 93 pages long!
The coloring book is a collection of black outlines from the illustrations in the original extended book, for you to color as your your desires!

Each book makes between $2 and $3 of profit and we are committed to donating $1 from every sale to a local shelter. We donated our first $100 to Maui Humane Society, where many of Smiley’s siblings came from, on April 24th 2026. By buying Smiley’s books, you can help us raise even more money for animals in need!
